So Disappointed

I haven't posted in some time because I am completely disappointed in my progress.  I should be at my goal right now which is 148 lbs but have been stuck between 205 and 210 for the last 4 months.  Why you ask?  Because I am cheating and eating more than I should be.

Now to get my head where it is supposed to be and start exercising and eating properly.

100 and losing

So I am happy to say that I finally hit my 100 lb weight loss.  I am so excited. I started my journey at 307 lbs on my first day of weight loss class and this morning I weighed in at 207 lbs.  So I have 67 more lbs to lose to reach my goal weight.

Unfortunately it is only 5 lbs in the last 3 weeks.  Time to really start working harder.  I just don't understand why I get in these ruts. I've been really bad and not going to the gym. It's like I lost my motivation now that I can't pay for my trainer.  I still go walking at night a couple times a week if I don't go to the gym, but I really need to step up my game.

I still haven't had a drink and wont until I lose the 30 I said so, 25 lbs more to go...lol

My goal is to lose 3 lbs per week so, I seriously better get back to business.

Losing Slowly

So I'm still not losing as much as I had wanted.  I have decided not to have any alcohol until I lose 30 lbs.  I've lose 3 lbs since and am currently at 210 lbs.  Almost 100 lbs from when I started my Journey; 71 since surgery 8 months ago.

I've gone from a size 26/28 in clothes to a whopping 14.  Based on that, I've lost half of what I used to be.  Pretty proud.  Since I know I am still losing inches, I am not beating myself up too bad on the weight loss.

I just know I need to work harder and stop the between meal snacking.  Instead of picking at things because I'm bored or they look good, I need to just drink more water. I'm still not drinking nearly enough water as I should be.   :(

I'm getting enough protein in my diet, but am still losing hair.  This is depressing.  I am so used to having a head full of beautiful, thick curly hair and unless you really know me you would never guess at the hair loss but I have half the hair or less that I used to!

Bariatric Wellness Appointment

So yesterday was my 3 month check up at the Bariatric Wellness center in Burbank.  I am sad to say that I only lost 12 lbs in the last 3 months.  Miranda told me I am getting to many calories and really need to keep better track of what I am eating and to either cut out 1 meal or cut out my protein supplement.  I really need to be at my goal weight by my 1 year check up. This means i need to lose 70 pounds in the next 4 months.  I don't really think this is a possibility...I would need to lose more than 4 lbs per week.  I am thinking 45-48 lbs is more likely but that is still losing 3 lbs per week.

It is time to up my game and really bear down and get my butt to the gym 4-5 days per week.  I have really slacked off this last month.

Doctor Visit

So I went to my regular Doctor appointment 2 weeks ago and my blood pressure was 100/60 which for me is incredible.  The Doctor decided to cut my medication from twice a day to once a day and he also did blood work to check my cholesterol.  I made an appointment for 2 weeks to recheck my blood pressure and 7 months after surgery I am OFF my Blood Pressure as well as my Cholesterol Medications.

I am down to 212 pounds and a size 14.

WOOHOO this makes me a very happy girl.

Inches

So I have lost 2½ inches in the last month, 4 inches overall since the beginning of April when I started the gym/trainer.

I’m down 1% body fat in the last month 2% since the beginning and down 12 lbs in 2 months.

Since I hit my 5 month mark after surgery I have noticed that I am losing weight at a slower pace.  This is normal but annoying!

Today I stand proud at 216 lbs...91 lbs lost since May 7, 2014 and 64 lbs since surgery on 11/25/14.

This Weeks Workouts

I find it absolutely amazing, that you can burn this amount of calories by just walking.

I wish I would have taken the time to walk every day.  I am so much happier now that I am exercising 4-5 days per week, than when I don't.

I have also been kicking my own butt with the muscle strengthening and toning I am doing.

Tomorrow is another session with my Trainer Heather.  I look forward to my sessions with her.  To see what new exercises and strengthening she teaches me so I can add to my routine.

Back On The Right Path

So now that I have realized what I was doing to myself, I am back on the right path to a healthier me.  I am no longer sacrificing my time at the gym to hang out with my friends.  I wait for them to get off of work or finish what they need to do, they can wait for me to finish what I need to do (AND SHOWER...LOL).  I been to the gym both Monday and Wednesday, Tuesday is an off day for me, and walked over 2½ miles on the treadmill at a fast pace going up and down hills.  I am also doing 30-45 minutes of weights afterwards.

So I am holding at 216 lbs for the moment.  It pains me, but I have to remember that I am building muscle.  As long as I can see the difference in the way my clothes fit...I AM A HAPPY CAMPER!!!

Down a Size

So I am down another pant size...WooHoo I'm a size 16.  It has been 17-18 years since I was this size.  WOW!!!

So I have identified a problem I am having.  I noticed that ever since I have been in this plateau that I am going back to old habits of thinking well I'm not losing weight so I'll eat.  Luckily I caught myself doing so last week and recognized what it was and got my butt up and went for a walk.  With the Holiday weekend and busy week this week, the only day I will make it to the gym is Friday and Saturday.Friday isn't a normal day but I am going to force myself to go.

Exercise and Eating

So I really have to be careful eating now.  I still haven't grasped eating small bites and slow, but I am a work in progress.  I also was really bad with the gym last week and only went twice the entire week.  I need to stop letting others influence me into not going.  NOT that they tell me not to go but I rearrange my workout to accommodate them and I need to put MYSELF FIRST.  I've worked way too hard to get to where I am to let it all go in a hand basket and know that it is possible.  I need to become stricter on my diet and exercise routine to become the happier and healthier me I want to.  I know my decision to NOT go to the gym are entirely my own fault because I would much rather hang out with friends then get what I need to do done!!!  This weeks goal is to focus solely on ME!

Plateau - The worst feeling

So I have been stuck at the same weight for almost a month and it is so frustrating.  Yes my clothes are fitting looser and I have definitely lost inches but being stuck at the same weight and even seeing a slight increase here and there just makes me want to scream.  On that note today's weigh in, I am at 220 lbs.  So Thursday will be a year since I started my journey and attended my very first class for my weight loss surgery weighing in at 307 lbs.  That is an 87 lb loss in 1 year.  I weighed in at 280 the day of surgery so that is a 60 lb loss in 5 months.

I love going to the gym and actually wish I could afford seeing my trainer more than I do but at $45 for 25 minutes or $256 for 6 sessions I just can't afford it right now.

I am hoping for a better May than April was for me.  I think all I lost in the month of April was 8lbs.  Don't get me wrong that is still a lot of weight but I should have lost at least 12 lbs.  However, I am happy with 8.

4 month check up

I went to see the Nurse Practitioner on Tuesday for my 4 month check up. I have to admit I really thought I was going to get into trouble with my weight loss, but I lost 33 lbs in 3 months and she is very happy with my progress and said I am right on track and exactly where I should be.  I need to go get my labs done to check my vitamin levels and make sure I am getting all the nutrients I need.

I am still stuck at 223 and a lot of that is due to me eating out every night.  Not that I want to or can afford to, but my refrigerator STILL is freezing everything and they can't figure out why.  So I should be getting a new used (new to me anyways) refrigerator today or tomorrow.  I will finally be able to buy groceries and not worry about having to throw them a way the next day.

So, I made the chicken avocado lettuce wraps and they were fantabulous.  Lots of flavor and different textures all wrapped in a lettuce leaf.  Avocado, tomato, green onion, grilled chicken thigh, lemon juice and garlic seasoning.

Yesterdays lunch consisted of the yummy salad pictured to the left.  Baby spinach, mixed greens, green onion, tomato, broccoli, cauliflower, walnuts, egg and half an avocado.  It was 300 calories 19g of carbs.

5-Minute Avocado Chicken Lettuce Wraps

Okay I found this recipe and will be giving it a try this weekend.

5-Minute Avocado Chicken Lettuce Wraps

What You Need:
-4-6 romaine lettuce leaves (cleaned and dried)
-1 medium avocado
-1/2 lemon or lime (for juice)
-1 cup cooked chicken, shredded or cubed
-1 roma tomato (or handful of grape tomatoes)
-2 tbsp chopped onion
-1/4 bell pepper, diced
-Salt, pepper and garlic powder, to taste
What You Do:
  1. Slice avocado in half, remove the pit and scoop out flesh into a small mixing bowl. Mash avocado with a fork until it’s smooth.
  2. Squeeze some of your lemon or lime juice into the bowl and mix to combine with avocado. (This will add flavor and help prevent avocado from browning prematurely).
  3. Sprinkle salt, pepper and garlic powder to taste into the avocado mixture. Mix well.
  4. Stir in the remainder of the ingredients (minus the lettuce). Combine until chicken, tomatoes, onion and pepper are evenly coated with avocado.
  5. Scoop mixture into romaine leaves, wrap loosely and enjoy.
How can you possibly go wrong with this?
