Another New Beggining

So it has been several months since last I  posted.  In early July one of my best friends passed away unexpected in her sleep and this has spiraled me into depression and unhealthy eating.  I have gained 20 lbs and I have completely fallen off of my healthier eating style and working out.

Well NO MORE!  As of 3 weeks ago I am changing my eating habits and going back to a healthier lifestyle.  Alecia would be pissed at me if she knew what I have let happen to myself.

My first week started out great and I worked out 5 of the 7 days.  My second week I worked out 4 of the 7 days and this week not at all so far.  I pulled something in my back and am hurting.  I am still eating healthy because this is a commitment I have made to myself.

My goal at this point is to lose 20 lbs by the beginning of the year and by watching what I eat and exercising this is totally doable. With the Holiday's coming it may be a little challenge but I know I can do it if I make the change.

My ultimate goal is to lose 60-75 lbs by November 1st 2018.  Another goal for me to help keep me accountable, is to start posting at least once a week.

So here it Starts AGAIN

I was doing so well on my journey and working my business and then IT happened. I got burnt out on everything.  It's like I fell into a depression and I haven't been able to get out.  I haven't wanted to go onto any of my Social Media and haven't been posting at all.  I haven't been getting up to work out.  I have been drinking my shakes still but I really haven't enjoyed them lately, but there is a reason to that.  I have been allergic to Coconut for the longest time but started using Coconut Oil in my shakes (I started with small amount and slowly increased it to about 1 tbsp.) and really enjoy the taste and benefits.  Well a week ago I made a Pina Colada flavored one which I have been doing 2-3 times per week with no issues until I decided to double up on the pineapple and Coconut Extract.  WELL I had an allergic reaction and my tongue swelled and my swelled and just felt weird.  I tried it again and did my  usual dose but felt the swelling begin immediately.  HOW?  Why? When I have been fine.  So anyways, since them I just have had no taste for my shakes and today is the first day I actually went without one.

I NEED TO BREAK OUT OF THIS - WHATEVER IT IS!!!

Intermittent Fasting Results

So after 3 weeks of Intermittent Fasting this is what I have learned about myself.  I did a 11am to 7pm schedule (this worried me because I normally wake up early).

  1. I can most definitely wait until 11am to eat.
  2. Knowing that I can't eat after 7pm and getting all my calories in, I am NOT hungry at all after the allotted hours.
  3. I don't find myself mindless eating.
  4. I am more able to control what I put in my mouth.
  5. I get 60-100 oz of water in each day.
  6. I lost 6 lbs and around 15" during these 3 weeks (I could have done better, but I was somewhat lazy and only worked out 1 day during the 3 weeks)
I am loving this style of eating so, I will continue with it. My next round starts next week and I WILL WORKOUT 6 OF THE 7 DAYS!

Intermittent Fasting

Intermittent Fasting has been shown to help tremendously when it comes to lowering insulin resistance and reducing blood sugar levels. These are two MAJOR factors in weight loss in the midsection (belly).

When you fast, insulin levels drop and human growth hormone increases.  Your cells also initiate important cellular repair processes and change which genes they express.

Lower insulin levels, higher growth hormone levels and increased amounts of norepinephrine (noradrenaline) all increase the breakdown of body fat and facilitate its use for energy. For this reason, short-term fasting actually increases your metabolic rate by 3.6-14%, helping you burn even more calories.

Studies show that intermittent fasting can reduce oxidative damage and inflammation in the body.  This should have benefits against aging and development of numerous diseases.

Intermittent Fasting has been shown to improve numerous different risk factors, including blood pressure, total and LDL cholesterol, blood triglycerides, inflammatory markers and blood sugar levels.

Intermittent Fasting has been shown to help prevent cancer in animal studies. One paper in humans showed that it can reduce side effects cause by chemotherapy.

Intermittent fasting may have important benefits for brain health. It may increase growth of new neurons and protect the brain from damage.

Eat Like Crap...Feel Like Crap

Okay so the last 2 weeks I have been horrible, both with my eating and exercise. I feel like crap and gained 6 lbs. This morning it was back to the drawing board and i got up and got my workout in.

Believe me, everyone slips from time to time and lately I just haven't wanted to get out of bed and workout. BUT after feeling like crap the last 2 weeks and knowing I have no one to blame but myself...it is back to healthy eating and working out.

Still a Struggle

Two years after my surgery and 1 year after starting the 21 Day Fix and other programs from Beachbody, I still struggle with my eating and weight.  I look at it this way, it took me a very long time to put this weight on and eat the way I did.  This is not going to change overnight.  I still eat too fast.  I still eat too much.  BUT I am learning and it's getting easier and I am getting stronger.

You have to believe in yourself and not give in.  It is so easy for me to wake up in the morning in my warm cozy bed and say "Hey I don't want to get up", but I know I will feel better and be happy with myself if I just get up and workout.

My Motto is PUSH PLAY!

Benefits of Water

Many people don't drink enough water.  You should drink half your weight in oz's or more of water every day.  There are so many benefits of saying hydrated.

There is no excuse not to exercise

Below is a 32 Minute workout you can do anywhere at anytime. There is no excuse not to do some kind of a workout everyday.  You have to make time for yourself. Believe me I know.  I took care of everyone but myself and slowly climbed to a super unhealthy weight until I took my life back.
